BambooHR for Docusign IAM

Connect BambooHR to Docusign Workflow Builder and automate the document side of the employee lifecycle: offer letters pre-filled from employee records, signed documents filed back automatically, and HR data that never gets re-typed.

BambooHR for Docusign IAM is a native BambooHR Docusign integration listed on the Docusign App Center. It runs inside your Docusign account: no Zapier, no Make, and no middleware in the path.

Capabilities

What it adds inside Workflow Builder

Once installed, the app's actions appear as native workflow steps. No code, no middleware, no separate sync jobs.

Read from BambooHR

Pull employee data mid-workflow (name, contact details, job information) by matching Employee ID to the workflow's input variable. The fields you select become workflow variables, ready to pre-fill agreements in later steps. Nothing is re-typed, nothing drifts from the HR record.

Writeback to BambooHR

Update an existing employee record or create a new one from data collected during the workflow, including values the signer filled in. You choose the identifier field (Work Email is the documented example) and the write mode: update, create, or update-or-create.

File Upload to BambooHR

Attach the signed document (the combined envelope file) directly to the employee's record. The destination folder is set from the Employee ID variable, so each run files its document under the right employee, visible on their Files tab in BambooHR.

Shared or private connections

Connect once for the whole team with a Shared connection, or keep a connection Private to one user. Rename, reconnect, or delete connections, and add extra BambooHR accounts, without reinstalling the app.

Live in an afternoon

To connect BambooHR to Docusign, install the app from the App Center like any Docusign extension, authorize your BambooHR account, and add the steps to a workflow. Full setup, configuration and known behaviors are covered in the documentation.

What HR teams run on it

Hiring and onboarding

Offer letters built from the employee record

Send offer letters for Docusign signature from BambooHR data: Read from BambooHR pulls the new hire's name, job details, and contact fields into the workflow to pre-fill the offer letter or onboarding pack. Once signed, Writeback saves what the hire entered and File Upload files the signed document on their record.

Record updates

Signer data written back to BambooHR

When an employee confirms or updates details in a signed form, the Writeback step updates their BambooHR record using a unique identifier such as Work Email, with update, create, or update-or-create behaviour you choose per step.

Document filing

Signed agreements on the right employee file

Policy sign-offs and agreements land where HR looks for them: the File Upload step attaches the combined envelope file to the specific employee involved in the run, filed dynamically by Employee ID into their Files tab.

FAQ

The BambooHR Docusign integration, answered

Does BambooHR integrate with Docusign?
Yes. BambooHR for Docusign IAM is a native BambooHR Docusign integration listed on the Docusign App Center. Built by Fluidlabs, a Docusign Build IAM Specialized Partner, it adds Read, Writeback, and File Upload steps directly inside Docusign Workflow Builder. You install it from the App Center and connect your BambooHR account. No Zapier, no Make, no middleware.
Do I need Zapier or Make to connect BambooHR and Docusign?
No. The steps run natively inside Docusign Workflow Builder once you install the app from the Docusign App Center. There is no third-party automation platform in the path, no separate subscription to maintain, and no sync jobs to monitor. Employee data flows between BambooHR and your Docusign account at workflow runtime.
How do I send an offer letter for signature using BambooHR data?
Add the Read from BambooHR step to a Workflow Builder flow. It pulls the candidate's fields from the employee record into workflow variables, which pre-fill the offer letter before Docusign sends it for signature. After signing, the File Upload step attaches the signed letter to the employee's Files tab in BambooHR, and Writeback can update the record with signer-provided data.
Is this the official BambooHR integration for Docusign?
The app is built and operated by Fluidlabs, a Docusign Build IAM Specialized Partner. It shipped through Docusign's review and is listed on the Docusign App Center with Fluidlabs as the developer. It was not built by BambooHR or by Docusign.
Does it work with Docusign Maestro?
Yes. Maestro is now called Docusign Workflow Builder, and that is where BambooHR for Docusign IAM runs: Read from BambooHR, Writeback to BambooHR, and File Upload BambooHR are added as steps inside your workflows like any other step.
What do I need to use it?
Per the documentation's prerequisites: a Docusign account with Admin rights to install and manage applications, and a BambooHR account. One practical requirement: when connecting, you must already be logged in to BambooHR in a separate browser tab, or the connection fails with a 500 error.
Where does our employee data go?
Employee data flows between BambooHR and your Docusign account at workflow runtime: the Read step pulls the fields you selected into workflow variables, the Writeback step updates or creates the employee record when the workflow runs, and File Upload attaches the signed document to that employee's record. Fluidlabs operates the app under ISO 27001 certification, hosted in the US region on AWS.
How long does setup take?
There is no build work in the install itself: search for BambooHR in the Docusign App Center, click Install App, then Connect Account, choose a Shared or Private connection, name it, and complete the BambooHR authorization. Have BambooHR open and logged in in a separate tab first, or the connection fails with a 500 error. Once connected, the three BambooHR steps are available in Workflow Builder.
What does support look like?
Named support at docusign-support@fluidlabs.com, monitored weekdays 09:00-19:00 CET, with priority-based response targets set out in the Service Terms.
Can Fluidlabs build the workflow for us?
Yes. The team that built this app builds Docusign extension apps and the Workflow Builder flows around them as a service: scoping, build, documentation, and submission through Docusign's review. See the Docusign extension app development service page.
