Docusign App Center Extension App Development

An extension app adds steps to Docusign agreement workflows and connects them to an external system. Docusign's extension framework defines the extension types: Data IO (read and write data in your system of record), Connected Fields (verify values and show autofill values during signing), data verification (check values such as an email address or a bank account) and file input and output (bring documents into Docusign, or write documents and agreement data to storage or your system of record). Docusign still supports file archive extensions in existing apps; new apps use file output instead. Data IO and file output pair naturally and typically ship together as one app; Connected Fields is architecturally a separate app. Extension apps are distributed through the Docusign App Center, or deployed privately to a single account.

Included: one App Center extension app, submitted for listing — typically Data IO + file output together — connected to one external system; security review and compliance testing; full technical documentation; the App Center submission pack with the review process managed; and a 30-day post-launch fix window. Anything beyond a cap is a fixed-price change order from the printed menu — an additional app type (for example, Connected Fields as its own app at $15,000) or an extra external system never bills hourly. Hosting is not bundled: it's a separate attach at $3,000 for the first 6 months, so you always know what recurs.

The engagement is 4 weeks: one week of scoping and architecture, two full weeks of build, and a final week of testing, documentation, and submission. Docusign's App Center review then runs on Docusign's clock — external time we don't control, so we don't pretend to. What we do control: the app is built against the review criteria from day one, and we manage the process — responding to reviewer feedback and handling resubmissions — until it's approved and live.

If reviewer feedback still comes, we respond and resubmit for you, with up to 2 resubmission cycles included in the fixed fee.

You do. The code and IP transfer to you on final payment. For ISVs, the App Center listing is published under your ISV identity, so your brand — not ours — faces Docusign customers. If you'd rather not run the listing operationally, we can manage it on your behalf.
