Lever for Docusign IAM

A Lever Docusign integration that runs inside Workflow Builder: read a candidate or job posting to pre-fill the offer letter, send it for signature, file the signed document on the candidate's record, and write the outcome back to Lever, without re-typing anything between your ATS and your agreements.

In development for the Docusign App Center. The documentation is already published, so you can review every step before the app lists.

Lever for Docusign IAM is being built as a native extension app for the Docusign App Center. Once listed, it runs inside your Docusign account with no Zapier, no Make and no middleware in the path.

Compare the routes

Three ways to get a Lever offer letter signed

The routes start in different places. Here is what each one asks of your recruiting team.

Send by hand

A recruiter copies the candidate's details out of Lever, prepares the offer in Docusign, sends it, downloads the signed copy and uploads it to the candidate's Files tab. It works, and every step is a chance to re-type something.

Generic connectors (Zapier, Make)

Middleware passes data between Lever and Docusign through automations that run outside both products. Quick to prototype, but the connection lives in a third system your team maintains.

This app

Lever for Docusign IAM (this app)

Runs inside Docusign Workflow Builder: a Read step pulls the candidate and posting into the workflow, the offer goes out pre-filled, the signed file lands on the candidate's record and a Writeback moves the stage. Choose it when the offer process itself runs on Docusign.

Capabilities

What it will add inside Workflow Builder

Once installed, the app's actions will appear as native workflow steps. Every capability below is already described in the published documentation.

Read from Lever

Pull a Candidate (22 fields) or a Job Posting (21 fields) into the workflow and use the fields as variables to pre-fill an offer letter. Address a candidate by Record ID for a single match, or narrow an email search with Job Posting Title, Stage or a Tag. Dates arrive as ISO instants and list fields as one string separated by semicolons.

Writeback to Lever

Update a candidate, create one, or post a Note. Update or Create updates the match or creates a new candidate when nothing matches; with Create, mapping Job Posting Title attaches the new application to a job. Name, Headline, Location and Stage replace their value; Email Addresses, Phone Numbers, Links and Tags add to the list. An update never removes a value.

File Upload to Lever

Attach the signed document, up to 30 MB, to the candidate's Files tab. The folder holds the candidate's Record ID from the Read step, and the file arrives marked Related to their job. A timestamp variable in the file name keeps repeat runs from producing identical names.

Private or shared connections

Connect a Lever account once as a Private connection for one user or a Shared one for the team, each named so it is easy to pick in a step. Reconnect after Lever fields change to refresh the catalog, and revoke access from Lever's own Authorized Apps settings whenever you need to.

Ready to run on day one

Once it lists, connecting Lever to Docusign will work like any Docusign extension: install the app from the App Center, authorize your Lever account, and add the steps to a workflow. The setup, configuration and known behaviors are already written up in the documentation.

1

Install from the App Center, once listed

One click from the listing into your Docusign account, the same as every Fluidlabs app.

2

Connect Lever

Authorize your Lever account and name the connection.

3

Add steps to any workflow

The Lever actions appear as native Workflow Builder steps.

What recruiting teams will run on it

Offer letters

The offer goes out pre-filled from the application

Read from Lever finds the candidate, Prepare eSignature Template fills the offer letter from the candidate and job posting fields, and Send Documents for Signature delivers it. Nobody re-types the candidate's name, the job title, the team or the location.

Signed and filed

The signed letter lands on the candidate record

After signing, File Upload to Lever attaches the combined envelope file to the candidate's Files tab, filed against the right application by Record ID and marked Related to the job.

Pipeline updates

Stage, tags and a note, written back automatically

A Writeback step moves the application to the next stage, adds a tag, or posts a Note recording the outcome, so the recruiter sees it in Lever without opening Docusign.

FAQ

The Lever Docusign integration, answered

Does Lever integrate with Docusign?
Lever for Docusign IAM is an extension app for the Docusign App Center, in development by Fluidlabs, a Docusign Build IAM Specialized Partner. It adds Read, Writeback and File Upload steps for Lever inside Docusign Workflow Builder, so offer letters are pre-filled from the candidate and job posting, signed files land on the candidate's record and the stage updates automatically. The documentation is already published.
Is the Lever app available on the Docusign App Center yet?
Not yet. It is in development and the documentation is already live, so you can review the exact steps before the listing appears. Use the notify link on this page and we will tell you when it lists.
Will I need Zapier or Make to connect Lever and Docusign?
No. The steps run natively inside Docusign Workflow Builder once the app is installed from the Docusign App Center. There is no third-party automation platform in the path and no sync jobs to monitor.
How does the app find the right candidate?
A Record ID guarantees one match, for example from an earlier Read step. Without it, an email search returns every application the person holds, because a candidate in Lever is one application, not a person. Add Job Posting Title, Stage or a Tag to the rule to land on one.
Can the workflow update the candidate after signing?
Yes. Writeback to Lever updates the candidate's stage, adds tags, phone numbers, links or email addresses, or posts a Note on the candidate. Fields like Name and Stage replace their value; list fields only add, and a workflow never removes a value.
Can I write to a job posting?
No. Job postings are read-only. The Read step pulls posting fields such as title, team, location and state into the workflow, but there is no writeback to a posting.
Does it work with Docusign Maestro?
Yes. Maestro is now called Docusign Workflow Builder, and that is where the Lever steps run. Read from Lever, Writeback to Lever and File Upload to Lever are added to a workflow like any other step.
What do I need to use it?
A Lever account with permission to authorize integrations, and a Docusign account with admin rights to install and manage apps in the App Center. Lever names the app Docusign IAM for Lever on its consent screen.
Where does our candidate data go?
Candidate and posting data moves between Lever and your Docusign account at workflow runtime: the Read step pulls the fields you select into workflow variables, and the Writeback and File Upload steps send data and signed files back to Lever. Fluidlabs operates its apps under ISO 27001 certification, hosted in the US region on AWS.
Can Fluidlabs build the hiring workflow for us?
Yes. Fluidlabs builds Docusign extension apps and the Workflow Builder flows around them as a service, with the same documentation standard you can read here today.
