Choosing a Docusign Google Sheets integration

A Docusign Google Sheets integration begins with the Google Drive app from Docusign, which exports workflow data to a Google Sheets file. Zapier and Make start workflows from new or changed rows. Fluidlabs builds a private app for your account.

Docusign publishes and supports its Google Drive app, which exports workflow data to Google Sheets files. Fluidlabs did not build it. On 27 September 2026 the Docusign App Center listed no app named Google Sheets.

Which Google Sheets Docusign integration fits your process?

Docusign publishes its Google Drive app, which writes agreement data to Google Sheets, and for reporting it is the right answer. The three routes differ in where the agreement starts and in what returns to the sheet.

The line above each card names who publishes that route. Fluidlabs publishes none of the public routes. The last card is the private app we build for one customer.

Published by Docusign

Google Drive app from Docusign

Docusign publishes it on the Docusign App Center and supports it. It adds two steps to Docusign Workflow Builder: Store Files in Google Drive and Export Data to Google Drive. The export step writes workflow variables to a Google Sheets file, in the columns whose headers match. It needs a Docusign IAM plan.

Choose it when the workflow should export agreement data to a sheet for reporting, and store the signed files in Google Drive.

Connectors: Zapier and Make

Zapier and Make both list Docusign and Google Sheets. In either one, a trigger on a new or changed row can start a Docusign Workflow Builder workflow on an IAM plan, and a later step updates the row. Your team owns that automation and keeps the connector account.

Choose it when a row should start the agreement and hold its results, and someone on your team owns the connector account.

Built by Fluidlabs for you

A private app for your account

If the app from Docusign covers your process, use it. We can set it up in your account. For a process that also reaches a third system, such as a vendor record in your ERP, we build a private app for you alone. We publish it to your Docusign accounts only and host it, and it writes the results back to the row.

Choose it when the process reaches a third system as well as the sheet and Docusign, or you want Fluidlabs to host and maintain the integration.

How the Docusign Export Data to Google Drive step works

Each note below comes from the guide Docusign publishes for the Export Data to Google Drive step.

  1. Exports string-type variables

App from Docusign, listed as Google Drive

Docusign states that the Export Data to Google Drive step supports only the export of string-type workflow variables to Google Drive.

  2. The file must exist first

App from Docusign, listed as Google Drive

A Google Sheets, CSV or MS Excel file must sit in the connected Google Drive before you configure the step. You select that file as the destination.

  3. Column headers must match the field names

App from Docusign, listed as Google Drive

The step writes each field to the column whose header carries the same name. It creates a new column for a field without a match, and it leaves a column blank if you did not configure it for export.

  4. Google Sheets format suits large exports

App from Docusign, listed as Google Drive

Docusign notes that an export of large volumes of data to a CSV or MS Excel file can delay the write. It recommends converting that file to Google Sheets format.

Docusign to Google Sheets and back: what a private app covers

The Google Drive app from Docusign exports data to a sheet and stores files in Google Drive, and a connector starts a workflow from a new or changed row. A private app runs the four jobs below in one integration, which can also reach a third system. Google documents the API ability behind each one, and we confirm each against your own spreadsheet during scoping.

Start the agreement from a row

An Apps Script edit trigger runs when a user changes a value, and the script calls the private app. For rows that another system adds, the private app reads the sheet on a schedule.

Fill the agreement from the row

Through the Sheets API, the private app reads the name, the amount and the date from the row and sends them to Docusign as the workflow's starting values, so nobody retypes them.

Write results back to the same row

A cell in Google Sheets has no ID of its own. The private app tags the row with developer metadata, finds it again through that tag, and writes the status and the signed values.

Link the signed copy from the row

The Docusign Store Files in Google Drive step or the private app saves the signed PDF in the folder you name. The private app writes the file's link into the row, where your team opens the agreement.

Google Sheets' API, as we design around it

We took each fact from the vendors' own documentation and listings. The sources list at the foot of this page links each one.

Authentication
Google Workspace APIs accept OAuth 2.0 client IDs, which request access to user-owned data with the user's consent, and service accounts for server-to-server calls. Sheets API scopes apply to a whole spreadsheet file, and Google recommends the drive.file scope, which covers the specific files a user uses with the app.
Webhooks
The Google Drive API sends a push notification to an HTTPS address when a watched file changes. The notification has an empty body, so the application calls the API to read the change. In Apps Script, an installable edit trigger runs a function when a user changes a value in a spreadsheet.
API limits
The Sheets API allows 300 read requests and 300 write requests per minute per project. It allows 60 of each per minute per user per project, and a batch request counts as one request. Google sets no daily limit for an app that stays within the per-minute quotas.
Marketplace listing
Google Workspace Marketplace. Google reviews an app and its listing before the app goes public in the Google Workspace Marketplace. An app that has not completed OAuth verification does not pass the review. Google gives several days as the usual length of a review.

How a build runs

From the first call to a hosted integration

  1. Scoping call

Thirty minutes with the engineers. We map the records, the direction of travel and the edge cases.

  2. Written scope

You get a fixed scope and a fixed price in one document. It quotes hosting and maintenance too.

  3. Build and review

We build against test accounts. We walk you through the result before anything touches production.

  4. Hosted and monitored

We run your private app on infrastructure we operate. We version each deploy, so we can roll one back.

What operations teams run on it

Send the vendor agreement when a row reaches Ready to send

A coordinator sets Status to Ready to send in the vendor tracker. The private app reads the row and starts the workflow, and the agreement goes out with the vendor's name and terms from the sheet.

Record the signed date and the contract value in the tracker

Once the vendor signs, the private app finds the row that started the agreement and writes Signed, the date and the contract value. Procurement stops copying values from Docusign into the sheet.

Export agreement data to the finance sheet

At the end of the workflow, the Docusign Export Data to Google Drive step exports the envelope data to the sheet your finance team reports from.

FAQ

Google Sheets and Docusign, answered

Does Google Sheets integrate with Docusign?
Yes, through the Google Drive app from Docusign. Docusign lists it on the Docusign App Center, and it adds an Export Data to Google Drive step to Docusign Workflow Builder. The step writes workflow variables to a Google Sheets file. Zapier and Make also list both products. On 27 September 2026 the App Center listed no app named Google Sheets, and the Google Drive listing named no step that reads rows from a sheet.
Does Fluidlabs have a Google Sheets app on the Docusign App Center?
No. On 27 September 2026 the Docusign App Center listed no app named Google Sheets from any publisher. Docusign publishes its Google Drive app, which exports workflow data to Google Sheets files. Fluidlabs publishes Smartsheet for Docusign IAM, which connects Smartsheet and does not connect Google Sheets. For Google Sheets, we build a private app for your account.
How do I export Docusign data to Google Sheets?
A Docusign admin installs the Google Drive app that Docusign publishes on the Docusign App Center and connects Google Drive. In Docusign Workflow Builder, add the Export Data to Google Drive step and choose the Google Sheets file. Pick Bulk export for all envelope metadata, or Specific export for the variables you select. Name each column header after its variable. The step exports string-type variables.
Is there a Docusign add-on for Google Sheets?
On 27 September 2026 the Docusign add-on in the Google Workspace Marketplace, Docusign eSignature for Google Workspace, named Google Docs, Google Drive and Gmail under Works with. It did not name Google Sheets. The Docusign guide describes signing and sending documents from Drive, Gmail and Docs. For spreadsheet data, the routes are the Google Drive app from Docusign, a connector or a private app we build for your account.
Can a row in Google Sheets start a Docusign workflow?
Yes, through a connector or a private app. Zapier and Make list a trigger for a new or changed row and an action that starts a Docusign Workflow Builder workflow on IAM plans. A private app starts the workflow through From an API call, the start method Docusign names for a workflow that an external system launches. An Apps Script edit trigger calls the private app when a user changes a value, and the private app reads the sheet on a schedule when another system writes the rows.
Can a Docusign workflow call another system's API without a custom build?
Yes, when the other system's API fits the step. On qualifying IAM plans, such as IAM Professional and above, Docusign Workflow Builder has a Make a Web Request step, and Docusign installs the HTTP app the step needs. The step sends GET, POST or PUT requests to another system's API. The Docusign guide "Configure a Make a Web Request Step" lists Basic Auth connections, and the Docusign overview, "Connect to Any Service Using Web Requests", also lists OAuth 2.0 client credentials. If your system's API accepts one of those connections and each call is one of those requests, a workflow can call it. We check that on the scoping call. A custom build covers other sign-in methods and request types, and work that runs outside a workflow.
How does Fluidlabs price a custom integration?
We agree a fixed price in a written scope before work starts, then a monthly hosting plan. You see both numbers in the same document. Nothing bills hourly.
Who hosts and maintains what Fluidlabs builds?
Fluidlabs does. The engineers who build a private app or integration run it, monitor it and patch it. You choose the US region, the EU region or both, and your data stays there. Docusign and the other publishers on this page run and support their own public apps. The security and compliance section on this page has our certificate and agreements to download, and a form to request our security overview.
