Choosing a Docusign Pipedrive integration

Pipedrive and easyCRM each publish a Docusign Pipedrive integration, and Zapier and Make connect the two. If you use Smart Docs, start with Pipedrive's app. Fluidlabs builds a private app for your account when your process reaches a third system.

Pipedrive publishes and supports its own Docusign app, and easyCRM publishes another in the Pipedrive Marketplace. Disclaimer: Fluidlabs did not build these apps or the current public Pipedrive app on the Docusign App Center.

Which Pipedrive Docusign integration fits your process?

The four routes differ in where the agreement starts and in what returns to Pipedrive after the customer signs. Pipedrive's own app fits reps who build each document in Smart Docs from Pipedrive fields.

The line above each card names who publishes that route. Fluidlabs publishes none of the public routes. The last card is the private app we build for one customer.

Pipedrive's Docusign app

Pipedrive publishes it in the Pipedrive Marketplace and supports it. You create an envelope from a Smart Docs document or a file linked to a deal or contact, then place the signature fields in Docusign. Pipedrive tracks each recipient's status and stores the signed copy.

Choose it when your reps prepare each document and the process ends once the signed copy sits in Pipedrive.

Published by easyCRM

easyCRM's Docusign app

easyCRM publishes its app, Docusign on Pipedrive, in the Pipedrive Marketplace. Its free tier shows your envelopes in a panel in the deal view. On Tier 1, reps send signature requests from the deal view, and easyCRM's app tracks envelope status through Pipedrive activities. Tier 2 passes deal data into Docusign templates.

Choose it when reps should send from the deal view without Smart Docs, or you want deal data in your Docusign templates.

Published by Zapier and Make

Connectors: Zapier and Make

Zapier and Make each list Docusign and Pipedrive. On Zapier, one Zap can pair the Pipedrive trigger Updated Deal Stage with the Docusign action Trigger Workflow, which needs an IAM plan. The automation runs in the connector, and your team maintains it there.

Choose it when one automation covers the job, such as starting a Workflow Builder workflow on a stage change, and your team can maintain it.

Built by Fluidlabs for you

A private app for your account

We build it for you alone, publish it to your Docusign accounts only, and host it. It writes signed values to deal, person and organization fields, custom fields included, and passes them to a third system, such as your ERP or billing tool. If Pipedrive's app covers your process, use it. We can set it up in your account.

Choose it when the agreement process reaches past Pipedrive and Docusign into a third system, such as an ERP or a billing tool.

What Pipedrive's Docusign app covers

Each note below comes from Pipedrive's own documentation of its Docusign app, in its terms. Pipedrive lists that app under the name Docusign. easyCRM's listing states no limits.

  1. One signature process per document

    Pipedrive's app, listed as Docusign

A document in Smart Docs holds one active signature process. You cancel the current one before you start another on the same document.

  2. A Docusign setting must stay inactive

    Pipedrive's app, listed as Docusign

Pipedrive creates envelopes and receives status updates only while the send individual messages setting in Docusign is inactive. Only a Docusign admin can change that setting.

  3. No count of envelope views

    Pipedrive's app, listed as Docusign

Pipedrive's view tracker does not count views of a Docusign envelope. To count views, you share the document through Pipedrive's own sharing link.

  4. The completed copy waits for the last signer

    Pipedrive's app, listed as Docusign

You download a basic version of the document at any time. The completed version and the certificate of completion download only after every recipient has signed.

  5. It connects your default Docusign account

    Pipedrive's app, listed as Docusign

Pipedrive's listing notes that its app syncs to your default Docusign account.

What a private app covers

For a process that reaches a third system, a private app covers the four jobs below. Pipedrive documents the API ability behind each job, and we confirm it against your Pipedrive account during scoping.

Start the workflow from a deal stage change

Pipedrive sends a webhook for each change to a deal, with the previous value of each changed field. The private app compares the stage and starts the Docusign workflow through the API.

Fill the agreement from deal, person and organization fields

The private app reads the deal with its person and organization through Pipedrive's API. It maps each custom field by its 40-character key, which differs in each Pipedrive account.

Write signed values to Pipedrive and a third system

Once the agreement completes, the private app updates the deal, the person or the organization, custom fields included. It passes the same values to your ERP or billing tool.

File the signed copy on the record

The private app uploads the signed PDF through Pipedrive's Add file endpoint and associates it with the deal, the person or the organization.

Pipedrive's API, as we design around it

We took each fact from the vendors' own documentation and listings. The sources list at the foot of this page links each one.

Authentication
Apps in the Pipedrive Marketplace authorize with OAuth 2.0. An integration for one company can send a user's API token in the x-api-token header, and that token gives access to all of that user's data.
Webhooks
Pipedrive sends a webhook for create, change and delete events on deals, persons, organizations, leads, products, activities and notes, among other objects. A change webhook carries the current data and the previous values of the fields that changed. Pipedrive retries a failed delivery three times, and each user can hold up to 40 webhooks.
API limits
Pipedrive gives each company account a daily token budget: 30,000 base tokens times the plan multiplier (Lite 1, Growth 2, Premium 5, Ultimate 7) times the number of seats. Burst limits for OAuth apps run from 80 requests per 2 seconds on Lite to 480 on Ultimate.
Test environment
Pipedrive gives app developers a sandbox account that works like a regular company account, with 5 seats by default. Pipedrive deletes a sandbox account that stays inactive.
Marketplace listing
Pipedrive Marketplace. Pipedrive reviews each public app before it lists the app. The app must use OAuth 2.0, link to a pricing page and give installation instructions, and the developer supplies a demo video and test accounts for the review.

How a build runs

From the first call to a hosted integration

  1. Scoping call

Thirty minutes with the engineers. We map the records, the direction of travel and the edge cases.

  2. Written scope

You get a fixed scope and a fixed price in one document. It quotes hosting and maintenance too.

  3. Build and review

We build against test accounts. We walk you through the result before anything touches production.

  4. Hosted and monitored

We run your private app on infrastructure we operate. We version each deploy, so we can roll one back.

What sales teams run on it

Start the service agreement from the Proposal made stage

Pipedrive reports the move to Proposal made, and the private app starts the Docusign workflow, which sends the service agreement with the deal value and the person's details filled in. Your rep uploads no file.

Move the deal forward when the customer signs

After the customer signs, the private app sets the next stage and writes the signed date to a custom field. Your pipeline then shows signed deals with no manual update.

Keep the signed contract on the organization

The private app files the signed copy on the organization record, so an account manager who opens the organization at renewal finds the contract there.

FAQ

Pipedrive and Docusign, answered

Does Pipedrive integrate with Docusign?
Yes. Pipedrive publishes its own Docusign app in the Pipedrive Marketplace. You create an envelope from a Smart Docs document or a file linked to a deal or contact, and Pipedrive tracks the signature of each recipient. Pipedrive stores the signed documents once signing finishes.
Does Fluidlabs have a Pipedrive app on the Docusign App Center?
No. A Docusign partner lists a Pipedrive app on the Docusign App Center. Pipedrive publishes its own Docusign app in the Pipedrive Marketplace, and easyCRM publishes another there. Fluidlabs publishes App Center apps for other CRMs, such as Zoho CRM for Docusign IAM. For Pipedrive, we build a private app for your account when your process reaches a third system, such as your billing tool.
How do I connect Pipedrive to Docusign?
To install Pipedrive's Docusign app, open Tools and apps in Pipedrive, choose Integrations, then Docusign, and click Connect now. Pipedrive sends you to the Pipedrive Marketplace for the install. Docusign opens next, and you allow access there. Before the first envelope, a Docusign admin checks that the send individual messages setting in Docusign is inactive.
Do I need a Pipedrive eSignature integration when Smart Docs has eSignatures?
If your company runs its agreements on Docusign, connect the two and keep one signing process. Pipedrive's own Docusign app sends Smart Docs documents through Docusign. Smart Docs also includes its own eSignatures, which Pipedrive describes as Basic Digital Signing, on the Premium and Ultimate plans and as an add-on for Lite and Growth.
Can a Pipedrive deal stage start a Docusign workflow?
Yes. Docusign names From an API call as the start method for a workflow that an external system launches. Zapier lists a Pipedrive trigger, Updated Deal Stage, and a Docusign action, Trigger Workflow, for IAM plans, so one Zap can start it. A private app does the same from Pipedrive's deal webhook, which carries the previous stage.
Can a Docusign workflow call another system's API without a custom build?
Yes, when the other system's API fits the step. On qualifying IAM plans, such as IAM Professional and above, Docusign Workflow Builder has a Make a Web Request step, and Docusign installs the HTTP app the step needs. The step sends GET, POST or PUT requests to another system's API. The Docusign guide "Configure a Make a Web Request Step" lists Basic Auth connections, and the Docusign overview, "Connect to Any Service Using Web Requests", also lists OAuth 2.0 client credentials. If your system's API accepts one of those connections and each call is one of those requests, a workflow can call it. We check that on the scoping call. A custom build covers other sign-in methods and request types, and work that runs outside a workflow.
How does Fluidlabs price a custom integration?
We agree a fixed price in a written scope before work starts, then a monthly hosting plan. You see both numbers in the same document. Nothing bills hourly.
Who hosts and maintains what Fluidlabs builds?
Fluidlabs does. The engineers who build a private app or integration run it, monitor it and patch it. You choose the US region, the EU region or both, and your data stays there. Docusign and the other publishers on this page run and support their own public apps. The security and compliance section on this page has our certificate and agreements to download, and a form to request our security overview.
